This paper summarizes the findings of a study undertaken from December 1994 to January 1995. The study evaluated the impact of the refugee influx from Rwanda and Burundi in Kasulu, Ngara and Karagwe Districts in Tanzania, and its effect on the socio-economic and political structures and patterns and the environment. It also looked at the effects and impact of the relief operations on the Tanzanian community during the Burundi and Rwanda refugee crisis of 1993 and 1994.
